Costa Rica 2023, Day 14

Costa Rica 2023, Day 14

El Castillo to Tulemar Resort

Mike and I enjoyed seeing the sunrise from our balcony, reflected in the clouds, as we headed up for breakfast.

We ate our breakfast indoors, while enjoying the view of the infinity pool and beyond.

After breakfast, our driver picked us up to transfer us from El Castillo in Ojochal, to Tulemar, in Manuel Antonio. Tulemar resort is our favourite place to end our Costa Rican adventures.

After a short hour and fifteen minute drive, we arrived at Tulemar. Our villa wouldn’t be ready for several hours, but we were quite happy to lounge by the infinity pool while we waited. This is also where the restaurant is located, so we could also get food and drinks when we wanted.

When it was time for lunch, we went over to the other side of the pool into TuleCafe, where I ordered my first Pina Colada of the day. Mike had a non- alcoholic version. We like eating most of our meals there because the food is always very good.

This year we splurged and stayed in the Sunset Hideaway Villa for 5 nights. Each villa is privately owned and has unique furnishings.

The living area included a sleeper sofa and a full kitchen. We only used the fridge to store some drinks. I loved all the artwork that was displayed throughout the villa.

The outdoor space for this villa is beautiful. It can be accessed from the bedroom or the living room. My favourite thing was the double sized lounger where we could sit, read, and enjoy the view. It also had arm rests big enough to place a cold drink.

The best part is the view. Tulemar is built on a pretty steep hill, so every unit is quite private. When looking up for the beach, the resort is almost invisible.

Looking over the glass railing, you can see the path that connects the villas which also leads down to the beach. It’s fairly steep, and there are a lot of stairs. The paths are all surrounded by lush foliage, and also lead to the 4 pools that are staggered up and down the hill. There is a road that winds through the resort and you can grab a shuttle if you don’t want to walk.

We watched the gorgeous sunset from our deck, and then from our table at TuleCafe. I found it interesting that when plating the food, they often hid the vegetables underneath the meat.

Mike and I both enjoyed a fancy drink with dinner.

There aren’t many lights around the resort, so we often used the flashlight on our phones to make our way to and from dinner. The pool by the restaurant was very pretty at night.
